Foreign Investors (Still) Dominate IDX

During the Fourth Quarter of 2014, foreign investors still dominated t he shares ownership by 65%, decreased by 1% from the previous period . However, the shares ownership value of foreign investors increased slightly from Rp 1,842.79 trillion to Rp. 1,864.97 trillion . The increase was also recorded in the shares ownership value of domestic investors by Rp 12.67 trillion from Rp 1,014.08 billion in the third quarter of 2014 (September 2014) to Rp 1,026.75 trillion in the fourth quarter, with total shares ownership of 36%. More than half of the domestic securities holders are corporate holders (54%), followed by individuals at 16.5%.

In contrast with the composition of shares ownership, domestic investors have a bigger portion in the ownership of Corporate Bonds and Sukuk. In percentage, the composition of domestic investors’ shares ownership remains 91%, or the same as previous period. In terms of value, the number increased slightly to Rp 0.57 trillion. Equal to that, the percentage of foreign investors' ownership in Corporate Bond s and Sukuk remains stable at 9% compared to the previous period. Meanwhile, in terms of value, its ownership in Corporate Bonds and Sukuk increased from Rp 19.20 trillion to Rp 21.34 trillion compared to the previous period.

The total value of assets recorded in C-BEST rose by 1.55 % or Rp 48.7 trillion, from Rp. 3,149.34 trillion Rp 3,198.07 trillion . One of the reasons for this was an increase in the assets value of shares by Rp 34.86 trillion and Medium Term Notes by Rp 3.40 trillion. Total assets recorded in KSEI is still dominated by equity assets with a total value of Rp 2,891.73 trillion, or approximately 90% of the total value of assets recorded. This increase was also due to the movement of Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG), which has been increasing since the first quarter up to fourth quarter of 2014.

As of the end of December 2014 , the number of Indonesia capital market investors based on the Single Investor Identification (SID) number recorded in KSEI has been consistently growing since the first quarter . The number of Indonesia capital market invest ors until the end of 2014 has reached 364,465 investors, an increase of approximately 10% compared to the start of 2014. This is in line with the increasing number of Sub Account and number of investors who Login to AKSes (Securities Ownership Reference) Facility which rose by 10 % , respectively compared to the first quarter.
